Leigh

Leigh is a first-year student in the Anthropology MA program. He researches the cultural impacts of economic and political change in Peru. As an undergraduate, he benefitted greatly from tutoring and mentorship. Leigh hopes to impart others with the skills he gained from these experiences. Other than writing and reading, Leigh enjoys riding his bicycle, playing the guitar, and time outdoors. After six years in the San Francisco Bay Area, Leigh is excited to be back in the South. He missed the humidity, of all things.

Ben

Ben is a 1st year student pursuing his MA in Anthropology. His research focuses include coastal Andean civilisations, local museums, ceramics, and cultural resource management. He participated in NSU University School’s writing centre through high school and as an informal campus tutor during his undergrad years. He believes that writing is best accompanied by engaging active discussions to help ferment ideas and congeal loose threads into coherent arguments on paper. He had the very exciting recent opportunity to participate in the excavation of a Tequesta midden site in Miami, and a Manteno stone house in Manabi, Ecaudor.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a third year M.A. student in the English department. She is currently working on her thesis which examines how the characters in Shakespeare’s plays are affected by their environment. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys watching baseball games and working on embroidery projects.

Toni

Toni is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Modern Languages and first-generation college student. Her research interests include corpus linguistic, corpus-based language teaching, and topics in sociolinguistics, emphasis on cultural aspects of the Black African diaspora. She is a determined educator with a commitment to learning and teaching. Her professional career records 30+ years’ experience in the private sector. The highlight of her learning journey includes thirteen years working in volunteer and contract teaching roles. Recently, she founded a nonprofit organization, Seedtime Multilingual, Inc., which supports programs that expand foreign language studies and cultural awareness education in underserved populations. Toni aspires to become a skilled Japanese language teacher and hopes to learn from and become a contributing member of the Ole Miss community.
