We’d love to personally introduce your students to the Writing Center. You can use our online form to request a brief, 5-10 minute visit from members of our staff to discuss our services and resources. We can also host your class in a guided tour of our facilities. If you are looking for something more in depth, we also offer a variety of workshops on writing related topics. These sessions are led by members of our peer and graduate consulting staff and focus on student engagement and interaction.

Writing Center

Aside from one-on-one meetings with teachers during office hours, a great way to improve your writing is to work with writing consultants at one of the University’s writing centers. Writing consultants will work with any student writer working on any project in any discipline. Add Us to Your Blackboard

Add a link to the Writing Center to your Blackboard sidebar to provide students with instant access general information, appointments, and helpful writing resources.

The process of adding a sidebar link to Blackboard is easy. First, open your course and find the left side gray menu area. Click the “plus sign” icon at the top of the menu. This will reveal a dropdown with several options of menu items to add. Choose “Web Link.”

In the next menu, create a name for the link (e.g. Writing Center) and add the link for your center. Note: If you teach graduate or regional campus students, we have specific webpages with services customized to their needs. Finally, click Submit. You’ll see a new link in your course menu.

Recommend a Student for a Position in the Writing Center

Do you know a student who has shown interest in and talent for mentoring others in writing, research, and/or critical thinking? If so, please complete this very short recommendation form to let us know. We’ll contact the student personally, share your confidence in their abilities, and provide them with more information about how to become a peer writing consultant at one of our centers.
