Toni is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Modern Languages and first-generation college student. Her research interests include corpus linguistic, corpus-based language teaching, and topics in sociolinguistics, emphasis on cultural aspects of the Black African diaspora. She is a determined educator with a commitment to learning and teaching. Her professional career records 30+ years’ experience in the private sector. The highlight of her learning journey includes thirteen years working in volunteer and contract teaching roles. Recently, she founded a nonprofit organization, Seedtime Multilingual, Inc., which supports programs that expand foreign language studies and cultural awareness education in underserved populations. Toni aspires to become a skilled Japanese language teacher and hopes to learn from and become a contributing member of the Ole Miss community.
